Mackenzie Winters, an Andover native and Anoka High School graduate, has been named a captain for the 2017 St. Cloud State women’s soccer season.

Now a senior, Winters has been rock solid on SCSU’s defense, earning all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors three times. She’s also a two-time NSIC Academic All-Conference award recipient and earned NSCAA Scholar All-region team honors in 2016.

Junior Maria Witte was named the other captain.

“These women are proven leaders and are committed to bringing out the best in our team,” SCSU head coach Gretta Arvesen said in a release. “We believe their combined strengths, high character and passion for excellence will guide our team and set the standard for the future. We are grateful for their continued leadership efforts and determination to create a lasting legacy for the Huskies soccer student-athlete experience.”
