Devovi is back with a one-night-only free concert Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. at Glen Cary Lutheran Church in Ham Lake.
This year’s music selection includes everything from traditional hymns with a modern twist to a rendition of Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from the movie “Trolls.” Other pieces this year include Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” and an original arrangement of “It Is Well.”
This mostly a cappella choir started in 2013 as a group of friends getting together to sing challenging music over the summer.
Almost immediately, they were asked to sing for their home church, North Heights Lutheran Church, in the north metro.
Now they have performed for many local churches, as well as visited nursing homes and served and sang at Cure Ministries in St. Paul.
In 2014, the choir performed in the final round for the Minnesota State Fair Talent Contest.
In the ensemble’s five years, members have performed over 50 pieces of music and are continuing to expand their repertoire with many of their own original arrangements.
Devovi is always looking for new opportunities to sing and looks forward to making new friends along the way.
