The city is hosting an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at city hall, 10801 Town Square Drive NE.

There will be police squad cars, fire trucks and public works vehicles to explore and uniforms to try on.

Anyone is invited to sit in Mayor Tom Ryan’s seat and pick up the gavel he uses to call meetings to order. The cameras in the Blaine City Council chambers will be rolling as they would during a council meeting.

The mayor and council members will be greeting residents and answering questions.

Every city department will share information about what their jobs are so people are better informed on how their tax dollars are spent.

There will be plenty of fun activities for the kids beyond seeing the public safety vehicles and uniforms. Activities include a giant slide and an obstacle course.

Blaine has had an outdoor farmers market on Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. all summer and it will be open for business during this Sept. 13 event.

From 4 to 7 p.m., Hans and the Country Coffee Pot will provide live entertainment with various selections of blues, rock and R&B music.
