Anton Olson of Lehigh, Wisconsin, a workman at the Coon Rapids hydro-electric plant was drowned Thursday in the swift water just above the dam.

Anoka football wins 6-0 in consecutive weeks

The Anoka hign school football team score its second victory of the season Friday, defeating White Bear 6 to 0. The score was identical to that of the Columbia Heights-Anoka game the previous week.

Appearance of new homes

Can Anoka enforce an esthetic control ordinance aimed at requiring developers of large residential areas to provide a variety of home designs? Or for that matter, can they even write such an ordinance? There is apparently no authority that allows Anoka to write such an ordinance, but there is also apparently nothing that states that the city cannot enact the proposal, according to the city attorney, until the ordinance would be tested in court.

Education in the year 2000

A communitywide effort to shape the face of education by the year 2000 has started in Coon Rapids. The Anoka County Chamber of Commerce-sponsored meeting had one simple aim: to bring together a cross-section of the Coon Rapids community to discuss education with the aim of making the schools stronger.
