Thanks to the efforts of a Minneapolis couple and a Northwestern Bell community service team, Blaine will have a 40-foot high Christmas tree delivered to City Hall today. Mr. and Mrs. Gunnar Peterson donated the 40-foot high blue spruce which, until this morning, stood in their front yard in Minneapolis.
Richard Orpen was sworn into office on Monday, Nov. 17 as the newest member of the St. Francis City Council. Orpen was elected on Nov. 4 to fill the remainder of the council term left open with the resignation of Mike Haggard in December 2013. That seat had been temporarily filled by Steve Kane.
To many parents’ chagrin, the Anoka-Hennepin School District is contemplating another boundary change five years after redrawing boundaries to account for eight school closings.
