Next week the Anoka City Council is expected to approve the first raise for the mayor and council members since 2006.

In a 4-1 vote May 6 the council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would set the mayor’s compensation at $9,700 a year and council members’ salaries at $8,000 a year. That’s a raise of about 10 percent for the mayor and 12 percent for council members. Council Member Brian Wesp dissented.
