Lightning struck the roof of a townhouse on the 10400 block of Quince Street Northwest, Coon Rapids, during a storm the night of July 12, causing a fire that affected two adjoining units.

The fire was confined to the attic of the townhouse where the lightning hit, and drywall in that unit was removed to put out the fire, but there was no major structural damage and very little smoke damage, nor did the fire spread to the adjoining units, according to Fire Marshal Todd Williams.
