A Spanish immersion teacher and a world cultures teacher have been named Spring Lake Park District 16’s Teachers of the Year.

Three students in Spring Lake Park District 16’s Lighthouse Program have been named honorable mention winners in a national playwriting competition.

District 16 Community Education pilots Spanish classes for adults

They’ve only attended four short classes and already the students can greet their friends, ask directions to the airport and order from a menu – in Spanish.

Spring Lake Park District 16’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students walked away from their annual state meeting and competition with three golds, one silver and a gold trophy for top ratings.

Preferred option of change in school start and end times

Some Spring Lake Park District 16 schools are slated for new start and end times come September, although exact times have yet to be determined, while high school students will, most likely, be able to grab about 35 more minutes of snooze time.

District 16 named ‘Innovation Zone’

The Minnesota Department of Education has granted Spring Lake Park School District 16, along with the Farmington School District, an initial designation to partner in a pilot project as an Innovation Zone.

District 16 releases timeline for classroom additions

Spring Lake Park School District 16 anticipates getting a green light some time this week from the Minnesota Department of Education for the district’s request to add classrooms to Park Terrace and Northpoint elementary schools.

 
The crowd gets into the groove along with Adam Trott’s guitar virtuosity. Trott is a member of Mother Earth, the band that walked off with top honors and 24 hours of recording time in McNally Smith College of Music studios in St. Paul.
