The Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off its 62nd year with a breakfast meeting Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Courtyards of Andover.
The body of an unknown man was found in the field near W.M. Dyer’s place Sunday afternoon. A bullet wound in the head while both hands were in his pockets clearly indicated murder. The victim was 25 to 30 years of age, weighed about 165 pounds and was about six feet tall. He wore a blue flannel shirt, pink underwear, new pair of bib overalls and good shoes. He was of Scandinavian birth and appeared clean and of more than ordinary intelligence so far as could be judged from the shape of his head and features.
Opening weekend of the Halloween Capital of the World’s spooktacular celebration started in spectacular fashion with the second-annual Anoka Halloween Amazing Race and finished in flames with the Fired Up for Fun Bonfire at River Plaza.

The annual Veterans Day assembly has become an honored tradition at Anoka High School. Students from this school have fought in every U.S. conflict since its first graduating class in 1881.
At an Oct. 8 meeting, the Board of Education of Independent School District 16 began work on plans for a new fine arts auditorium. Board members proceeded with the necessary resolution whereby the School District would construct an auditorium for the fine arts, which would mainly be comprised of plays, operas, musicals and operettas, also contests, debate and speech events.
