Many high schoolers wouldn’t mind heading to college with friends with whom they’ve grown up. An opportunity to play college football at the College of St. Scholastica with three high school friends is an even rarer opportunity, but four members of Anoka’s Class of 2011 have done so.
As bad as a 1-6 record appears on paper, Anoka coach Jeff Buerkle remains hopeful that the 2013 season will end on a positive note after the Tornadoes turned the ball over five times in a 21-10 loss at Champlin Park in the Battle for the Paddle Oct. 11.
Andover sophomore Maddison Griess scored five minutes, five seconds into overtime as the No. 3 seeded Huskies (8-8-1) eliminated No. 6 Anoka 2-1 in a hard-fought Section 7AA girls’ soccer quarterfinal game at Huskies Stadium Oct. 10.
