The Huskies compiled a 3-2 record at the Southwest Challenge in Marshall Sept. 5-6 including wins against Owatonna (2-0), Jamestown, N.D. (2-1) and Sioux Falls Roosevelt, S.D. (2-0). Andover lost to St. Michael-Albertville (2-0) and No. 8-ranked (Class A) Heron Lake-Okabena (2-1).

Blaine (3-3) appeared to be the stronger team at Bengals Stadium Thursday night, especially in the second half as they controlled the ball and repeatedly challenged the Anoka (3-2) defense.

The Northwest Suburban Conference is now a two-division, 14-team conference.

Starting next August, all football teams will move to the district schedule format where all but Spring Lake Park will compete in the 16-team West Metro District.

Anoka The defending Section 5AA champion and Northwest Suburban Conference runner-up girls team returns several runners from last fall but graduated its two strongest performers.
