One great sign of a healthy rivalry is a traveling trophy and the much-anticipated Anoka-Coon Rapids wrestling dual meet lived up its trophy, the Golden Boots, after a golden performance by defending champion Anoka in a 39-21 win, Jan. 2.
When pro boxing returns to Target Center to open the 17th season of “Friday Night Fights” on ESPN, two Coon Rapids residents will compete on the under card before Osseo’s own Caleb “Golden Boy” Truax (23-1-1) takes to the ring in a co-main event.
When it comes to cancer, sharing stories with others can be quite powerful. Hockey is one way to bring people together for a cause and that’s exactly what happened earlier this month at Coon Rapids Ice Center. The arena was the site of a day-long (Dec. 7) fund raiser to benefit Jaela’s Ultimate Cancer Shutout in conjunction with the Blaine and Coon Rapids youth hockey associations.
