Six East Bethel residents want to represent their community in 2010 as a member of the East Bethel City Council.
Only one will be able to serve the remaining year of Councilmember Anne Klein’s seat, which she is resigning from because her family is moving out of the community.
The six candidates are Paula Anderson-Beldin, Brian Bezanson, Steve Channer, Stephen Colburn, Richard Lawrence and Julie Moline.
The council Wednesday night, Dec. 2 will look at cutting the list of candidates in half.
The council is tentatively scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 to interview finalists.

The new council member will be sworn in at the Jan. 6, 2010 meeting.
The city is not required by law to hold a special election to fill this vacant seat because there is less than two years remaining on it. This seat is up for election in November 2010 for a four-year term that runs from 2011 through 2014.
