The department’s annual Santa Run returns to area streets Monday, Dec. 7, continuing a three-decades old holiday tradition.
The evening collection effort in Spring Lake Park, Blaine and Mounds View to gather non-perishable items is led by SBM firefighters, their families and Santa.
Donated items will help the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) food shelves at 1201 89th Ave. N.E., Suite 130, in Blaine.
Organizers request all non-perishable items be bagged for easy handling.
Those wishing to donate can also include non-traditional assistance items.
Soaps, shampoos or personal care products also are acceptable donation items.
Children and parents should be at the end of their driveways or cul-de-sacs between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. on the days and routes that are listed below.
Sometimes Santa cannot make it down every street.
If there is an emergency, Santa has to go and he may not have time to return. Santa does regret that he can’t reach every area.
Anyone missing the Santa Run can drop off donated food items at SBM Station 1, 1710 County Highway 10, Spring Lake Park.
