A Blaine resident apprehended a man he had found attempting to steal a motorcycle from his garage.

Jacob Lee Nienow, 20, 2819 172nd Ave. N.W., Andover, was arraigned in Anoka County District Court Sept. 14 on a third-degree burglary charge.

Nienow posted $10,000 bail Sept. 15 and is due back in court Oct. 13.

The night of Sept. 11, a resident returned to his home on the 170 block of 92nd Ave. N.E. heard his dogs barking and noise coming from the detached garage.

Investigating, he saw the front of his Harley Davidson motorcycle sticking out the front of the garage service door and when he walked closer to the motorcycle, a man wearing a shirt with orange sleeves jumped out and ran off.

According to the complaint, the man ran after the suspect, but lost him.

He went back to his home, awakened his son and the two of them drove the area where the man had last been seen in an effort to locate him.

They found the alleged suspect with orange sleeves on his shirt on 91st Lane N.E. and detained him, later identified as Nienow, for police.

In a post-Miranda statement, Nienow allegedly admitted entering the garage to steal the motorcycle.
