Staff writer The North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) Food Shelf will hold an open house at its new East Bethel location Thursday, Oct. 15. The new East Bethel location is at 18511 Highway 65 N.E., Suite 200.
The open house will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a food or financial donation to the open house and receive a free soft serve ice cream cone. The University of Minnesota Extension Service will also have sample recipes for guests to taste. The new location opened in late August and many people from St. Paul’s Church, Horizon’s Community Church, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Landmark Concrete and Mohawk Moving and Storage helped in the process, according to NACE Director Joanne Yackel. The facility will also be home to the Clothing Closet, which is open the same times as the food shelf. Monday hours are from 9 a.m. to noon, and on Wednesdays NACE and the Clothing Closet are available from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Those needing to visit the Clothing Closet on Tuesday evenings can make an appointment. The NACE and Clothing Closet phone number is 763-434-7685. Call ahead of time to schedule a drop-off.
