This is Balder’s second appearance as part of the Backroads dinner theater series that began earlier this year.
Following his September show in Nowthen, Balder said he was impressed with the crowd and it seems, from comment cards, that the crowd was equally impressed by Balder.
Friday’s show will feature “covers of all the great radio stuff we all grew up with,” Balder said.
He describes ‘80s music as requiring a great amount of technical ability to sing the lyrics and melodies.
Balder said it has taken him 20 years of performing to “sing all these really difficult songs live back to back.
He will perform Oct. 30 with a five-piece band.
A singer his entire life, Balder has a classical guitar degree and has spent his entire adult life as a professional musician.
“I just like getting up and entertaining people,” he said.
Balder has six solo records to his credit and is currently working on recording his seventh.
These albums are a departure from his Nowthen set list in that the recordings feature original contemporary pop rock songs by Balder, who grew up in Foley and currently resides in Maple Grove.
Balder is also working with his manager Sam Graber on a musical theater production set to launch nationally sometime in early 2010.
Some of the music from the developing musical will also be performed during Friday’s show, according to Balder.
Tickets for the Oct. 30 show are $35 for preferred seating and $25 for regular seating. Backroads Event Center is located at 19735 Iguana St. N.W. in Nowthen.
