In the races for Anoka-Hennepin District 11’s three school board seats on the Nov. 3 election ballot, incumbents John Hoffman, Michael Sullivan and Kathy Tingelstad each won their respective races.
Tingelstad defeated opponents Jeff Simon and Patrick Murray when she won 58 percent of the vote for the District 6 seat representing portions of Coon Rapids and Andover.
Tingelstad received 2,867 votes, while Murray and Simon had 1,168 and 876 votes, respectively.
“I am just thrilled,” Tingelstad said as precinct results rolled into the Education Service Center board room where Tingelstad and her family joined dozens of District 11 staff members awaiting the election results.
“I hope (my win) is reflective that my constituents know I’m listening to them,” Tingelstad said.
“I’ll keep working hard for the people in my community.”
The election results mean “I’m voting with the people and it’s showing,” Tingelstad said.
Tingelstad expressed great admiration and respect for opponents Murray and Simon.
“I had excellent opponents,” she said. “They both bring a lot to the table and I learned so much from them when we had our debates.”
“I’d like to keep them as advisers. I hope they’ll stay involved in the district.”
Hoffman and Sullivan were unopposed in their districts.
Hoffman received 3,333 votes for the District 3 seat representing Champlin, Dayton and a portion of Coon Rapids. There were 223 write-in votes.
Sullivan received 5,003 votes in District 4, which includes a portion of Andover, Ham Lake, Nowthen, Oak Grove and Ramsey. There were 404 write-in votes.
