| Primary elections for all three Anoka County Board seats |

by Peter Bodley Managing editor Primary elections will take place Sept. 9 in all three Anoka County Board seats on the ballot. In each case, incumbent commissioners face primary challenges from two opponents. The top two vote-getters in the primary races will advance to the general election Tuesday, Nov. 4. Board terms are for four years. In District 5, which includes the eastern part of Coon Rapids and four precincts in Andover, incumbent Scott LeDoux, 358 139th Lane N.W., Andover, has opposition from Becky Fink, 12061 Magnolia St. N.W., Coon Rapids, and Daniel A. Nelson, 940 117th Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids Incumbent Rhonda Sivarajah, 6404 Deerwood Lane, Lino Lakes, has been challenged by Kevin Ryan, 23110 West Martin Lake Dr., Stacy, and Patrick M. Davern, 7271 Savanna Ct., Lino Lakes, in District 6 which covers Centerville, Circle Pines, Columbus, Lexington, Lino Lakes, Linwood Township and two precincts in Blaine. In District 7, incumbent Dan Erhart, 4120 115th Ave. N.W., Coon Rapids, is opposed by Anoka Mayor Bjorn Skogquist, 408 Van Buren St., Anoka, and Eugene Rogers, 12031 Partridge St. N.W. The district includes the western portion of Coon Rapids (Hanson Boulevard is the boundary) and all but two precincts in the city of Anoka. There will be contests for all area Minnesota House districts on the ballot this year and primary races in two of them, both in House District 48B for both Republicans and DFLers. Incumbent Republican Jim Abeler, Anoka, has been challenged by Don Huizenga, Anoka. The House District 48B GOP declined to endorse any candidate for this race. On the DFL side, Andrew Boho, Anoka, and Nate Chapman, Anoka, will battle it out for a spot on the general election ballot. Filings in the other House districts in the ABC Newspapers coverage areas include: • District 17A: incumbent Rob Eastlund, R, Isanti; Jim Godfrey, DFL, Cambridge. The district includes the city of St. Francis. • District 47A: Troy Buchholz, R, Champlin; incumbent Denise Dittrich, DFL, Champlin. The district includes parts of Coon Rapids. • District 47B: incumbent Melissa Hortman, DFL, Brooklyn Park; Andrew Reinhardt, R, Brooklyn Park. The district includes parts of Coon Rapids. • District 48A: incumbent Tom Hackbarth, R, Cedar; Sharon Lawrence, DFL, East Bethel. • District 49A: Ted Butler, DFL, Andover; Peggy Scott, R, Andover. Incumbent Chris DeLaForest, R, is not seeking re-election. • District 49B: Jake Cimenski, R, Coon Rapids; Jerry Newton, DFL, Coon Rapids. Incumbent Kathy Tingelstad, R, is not running for another term. • District 51A: Shawn Hamilton, DFL, Spring Lake Park; Tim Sanders, R, Blaine. DFL incumbent Scott Kranz is not seeking re-election. • District 51B: Dave Balcom, Fridley, R; incumbent Tom Tillberry, DFL, Fridley. The district covers parts of Blaine.
