Four weeks into the season and Park was back at .500. It’s decisive 41-0 win over Columbia Heights last Friday night made that possible.
“We are starting to go now,” said head coach Jeff Schlieff. “The key for us, though, is to keep getting better and find a way to keep putting points on the board.”
The way Park did it during Week 4 was on the ground. Several different ball carriers led by Tommy Brooks and quarterback Shaun Jensen, who had 100 and 99 yards respectively, were part of Park’s 338-yard rushing offense.
The defense also had an integral part in this win in a suffocating manner. The line anchored by nose guard Cory Strasser had a excellent night.
“These guys [on defense] are going to have to stay at the top of their games in the coming weeks when we face tougher and tougher competition,” added Schlieff.
In the game Park took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on short touchdown runs by David Taillifer and Jensen. In the second quarter, Brook scored from nine yards to make 20-0 over halftime and in the third quarter Taillifer scored from seven and Jensen from two as Park bumped its lead up to 34-0.
The final touchdown came in the fourth on a 17-yard run by junior quarterback Spencer Krischuk... |
