Coon Rapids put a championship wrap on its Northwest Suburban girls' soccer season PDF Print

The Coon Rapids girls' soccer team finished its regular-season schedule Oct. 2 with a 6-0 win over Andover. The victory gave Coon Rapids a 14-3-1 overall record, but of greater significance a championship 7-1-1 mark in the Northwest Suburban Conference.

Leading the way for Coon Rapids in its finale were ninth-graders Rachael Bona and Mallory Getchell, who scored two goals each. Meantime, ninth-grader Mady Von Wald and sophomore Shelby Funfar scored single goals and junior goalkeeper Carole Braschayko stopped five shots to earn her seventh shutout of the season.

Coon Rapids, which beat Maple Grove 4-0 two days earlier (Sept. 30), won the conference title by a half game. While Coon Rapids finished 7-1-1, Maple Grove finished 7-2...
