Police were responding to a second noise complaint of the evening at a large Halloween party at a Ham Lake home when a report came in that a fight had broken out and somebody had been stabbed, according to Sgt. Paul Lenzmeier of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

Lenzmeier said police were only a couple of blocks away from the Ham Lake home at 4131 Bunker Lake Blvd. N.E. when the stabbing call came in.

Three people with non-life-threatening knife wounds were transported to area hospitals — two went to Mercy Hospital and another went to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC).

One of the victims who went to Mercy was home Monday evening and said the other person who went to Mercy was also released. The victim at the HCMC was still in the hospital as of Monday night, but he had heard that they would be released later in the week.

This male victim, who asked not to be named, showed the knife wound on his back and said he got stuck about two inches deep. The other victim who went to Mercy had a gash on his wrist. The victim at the HCMC got slashed pretty deep in his gut.

He believes there was a group of six to eight guys who were together that came to the party, which he estimated had about 300 people attend.

“I guess somebody that wasn’t really acquainted with us very well invited them. We had never seen them before in our lives. They weren’t even supposed to be here.”

He said one of the guys who did the stabbing starting choking a girl out in the front yard and a group of guys went to defend her.

Lenzmeier said according to eyewitness reports, one or two people did the stabbing.

A couple of suspects were interviewed at the scene, but there was not enough evidence to arrest them, Lenzmeier said. No weapons have been recovered.

The incident is under investigation by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The Anoka, Blaine, Centennial, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Lino Lakes, Ramsey and Spring Lake Park police departments assisted the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.

According the sheriff’s office records, authorities have responded to this Ham Lake home nine times since the beginning of June.

There were three loud party calls and other calls regarding theft of a cell phone, a home occupant reporting a vehicle theft for a car that was later recovered in Blaine, suspicious activity, a domestic situation, damage to property and a loud party call that resulted in a person leaving the party being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
