The Anoka County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a Fridley resident who was killed in a vehicle-bicycle collision Friday night, Oct. 30, near Northtown Mall.

Richard Kevin Tinker, 546 Glencoe St. N.E., was attempting to cross County Road 10 at Jefferson Street when he was struck and killed by a vehicle, an Anoka County Sheriff’s Office news release stated.

According to the Anoka County Medical Examiner, Tinker, 55, died from injuries sustained at the scene.

Blaine police officers were called to the accident shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.

The man’s name had not been released by the Anoka County coroner Monday morning, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, a blood-alcohol test was performed on the 51-year-old driver of the vehicle.

Chief Chris Olson said Monday the death was the second vehicle-bicycle fatality that had occurred in  the city of Blaine this year.

That accident occurred on Jefferson and the block of 131st Street, he  said.

A pedestrian-vehicle death occurred earlier this year at University and 85th Avenue, Olson reported.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting the Blaine police and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office with the accident investigation.
