Staff writer Authorities identified a 29-year-old Andover man as the construction worker who fell off a pedestrian bridge he was working on last week in St. Louis Park. The new bridge spans County Road 25 between Ottawa and Raleigh avenues in St. Louis Park. The main bridge contractor is Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc., and the subcontractor that Wilkens was working for was E & J Rebar, Inc. of Andover. Wilkens was apparently welding and working on the bolts of a 15-foot stair tower for the bridge before he fell, according to Bob Beckel, regional manager in the Burnsville office for Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. An E & J Rebar spokesperson said today that Wilkens had worked for the company for one year and four months. St. Louis Park Police Department authorities could not be reached Monday for further comment.
