Midwest Entertainment and Photography gives event planning a friendly, family touch.
The business opened its Andover store front in March and has been helping to plan weddings and other parties, take photographs and provide relaxing massages ever since.
Midwest Entertainment and Photography can provide full service wedding and event planning and design, from creating one-of-a-kind centerpieces and decorations to booking event halls, limos and catering services.
This one-stop-shop can also photograph weddings and other events as well as provide DJ services.
Whatever your party planning need, Midwest Entertainment and Photography can help.
“We can do it from start to end,” said Jerry Morrow. “It’s a lot of work but it’s nice that we’ve got everything all set up.”
And it’s about more than just getting the job done for those involved in the business. It’s about truly understanding what is needed and going that extra mile to get everything just perfect.
It’s an attention to detail that comes from operating the business with family at the center.
Those who work there are family and by extension, everyone who walks in the door becomes family as well.
Jerry worked as a DJ for another company prior to going on his own with Midwest Entertainment and Photography. Stephanie Schuett has been a photographer for eight years, working in other portrait studios, and is now operating on her own with the Andover-based business.
Jerry’s mother, Dorothy French, makes decorations and floral arrangements by hand, as well as helping with the planning and design of events.
Rose Thielen is the massage therapist on staff, providing deep tissue and Swedish massage.
According to Dan French, Dorothy’s husband who is also involved in the business, Midwest Entertainment and Photography does not take on a huge client load to allow for more individualized attention.
“It’s a very big time in people’s lives,” Jerry added. “We want to put all we can into each person’s event.”
That’s especially true when it comes to floral arrangements and other decorations, which Dorothy fashions by hand staying true to the theme of the event.
“She puts stuff together from her heart,” Jerry said.
“We try to get to know them on a personal level,” Stephanie said.
“We will take as much time as needed to get them what they need,” Jerry added.
A recent wedding reception featured a Las Vegas theme and Dorothy used miniature cards, clear glasses and poker chips to design a centerpiece. The bride wanted something a little more subtle, so Dorothy went to work and fashioned another centerpiece right away.
The first now sits on display along with other items of Dorothy’s creations in the business’ front window.
Getting to know their customers on a personal level also means meeting them wherever is necessary to get their event planned just as they want it. In fact, Jerry said he often answers his phone with the customer’s first name because he recognizes the phone number.
The photography part of the business is about more than just taking wedding photos. An in-store studio with a digital backdrop allows Stephanie to photograph customers with a wide variety of backgrounds. There are traditional photo packages, graduation photos and senior photos available in the studio, as well as wedding and event packages.
Photos are ready the next day. For those needing their photos more quickly, they can also be printed in minutes on site. Conversion of 8 mm film into DVD format is also available.
Rose has been doing massage for 14 years and also operating a location in Buffalo.
“I want to help people,” she said about what she does.
Being a family owned business allows the owners to better accommodate the customer and for lower prices than some other event planning companies.
“We do it with our own soul,” Jerry said.
Discounts are available for those active in the community as well as for those serving in the military.
“They deserve it,” Jerry said.
Midwest Entertainment and Photography is located at 13845 Round Lake Blvd. N.W. in Andover. The location has provided plenty of traffic in the business’ first few weeks in its new location. Prior to opening in Andover, the business was based in Buffalo.
A visible location was part of the draw of opening a business in Andover. Another was returning home to the community where Dan, Jerry and Dorothy called home until eight years ago.
In addition to event planning, photography and massage, the business is also an E-Bay store that allows individuals to come in and sell items on the website with the help of Jerry, Stephanie, Dorothy and Dan.
