Two days after Blaine’s 25-match Northwest Suburban Conference winning streak came to an end against Osseo, the Bengals (4-1, 2-1) started another winning streak with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-20) sweep at Andover (2-7, 0-2).

Winning a game at state was a reasonable goal for Blaine this year. The No. 2 seeded Bengals came into state riding a 20-match winning streak and pushed it to 21 games after a 3-0 win in the state quarterfinals over Bemidji.

‘Unfinished Business’ was more than a motto for the No. 2 seeded Blaine volleyball team as it summed up its first round performance in a 3-0 win over Bemidji (23-8) in the Class AAA quarterfinals Thursday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Top seeded Blaine reached the Section 5AAA finals by sweeping No. 8 seed Mounds View 3-0 followed by a much closer 3-0 win over No. 4 Totino Grace (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) on Halloween. The win set up an Osseo/Blaine final Nov. 3 at Anoka High School. Click on image to view slideshow
