As we head into the final two weeks of volleyball’s regular season, plenty has yet to be determined, like conference titles and section seedings.
Heading into the 2006 season, Blaine volleyball coach Celeste Gorman had 10 seniors and the result was a third-place state trophy, her first since taking over the program a year earlier.
Blaine volleyball came back from down 0-2 to win the Class AAA state third place trophy 3-2 against Shakopee at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul Nov. 10.
Winning a game at state was a reasonable goal for Blaine this year. The No. 2 seeded Bengals came into state riding a 20-match winning streak and pushed it to 21 games after a 3-0 win in the state quarterfinals over Bemidji.
The Blaine Bengals are returning to the state volleyball tournament and they are determined to take care of some unfinished business at the St. Paul Excel Energy Center this week.
