UW-Stevens Point senior pitcher Travis Elwood (Anoka) was named WIAC Athlete of the Week for pitchers after a pair of appearances to help the Yellowjackets go 3-1 and 12-7 overall this spring. He pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit in an 8-6 loss to UW-Stout April 23. He followed that with an eight-inning performance Sunday in an 8-3 win over the Pointers. He gave up three runs on six hits. For the season he is 3-1 with a 2.32 earned run average with 33 strikeouts and eight walks in 31 innings of work
St. Cloud State senior golfer Devin Holmes (Anoka) earned Northern Sun Collegiate Conference Golfer of the Week after tying for 11th place (75-71-74 – 220) at the Washburn/Topeka Capitol Plaza Hotel Invitational played at the Topeka Country Club March 17-18. The Huskies placed seventh among 15 teams in the season-opener.
North Dakota State junior pitcher Parker Tretwin (Anoka) was named Summit League Pitcher of the Week after a win over Maine during the six-game spring break road trip to RussMatt Central Florida Invitational March 17. Tretwin improved to 2-1 with a career-high seven innings of work and 10 strike outs of shutout baseball. He gave up five hits and walked one. He struck out the side in the fifth and sixth innings and led the league with 9.15 strikeouts per game.
