Siblings growing up on high school teams aren’t anything new, but Coon Rapids girls’ hockey has more than one or two sets on the bench this season.
Anoka ended 2012 with a 4-1 loss at top-ranked Minnetonka Dec. 20. The loss drops the Tornadoes to 6-6-1 overall and 2-6-0 since Nov. 27. They’ve been outscored 22-9 during that span, minus a 9-1 win over North Metro Dec. 8.

For the first time in four years, Blaine (9-4) scored first in the annual Teddy Bear toss game, in which the first goal of the game triggers fans of both teams toss stuffed animals onto the ice. The animals are collected by both teams and donated to area hospitals, police, fire and crisis shelters.
