Nearly five decades after coaching in Coon Rapids and Anoka, Tom Idstrom answers the call to join the hall
Tom Idstrom has seen several transformations of high school football over nearly five decades and now will be recognized for his dedication as a member of the Minnesota Football Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
Dave Nelson was humbled when he heard the news last month. Former Blaine head football coach and current Minnetonka coach has devoted his life to teaching and coaching, and now he has earned his place in the Minnesota High School Football Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame.
A Ham Lake resident is now one of 10 people to be in the Minnesota Grand Masters Track and Field Hall of Fame.
Kathy (Ness) Lentz wasn’t going to allow a broken tibia derail her final season of gymnastics at the University of Minnesota in 1991. Lentz, an already highly-decorated senior gymnast, had nothing left to prove after being part of the program’s first Big Ten Conference Championship team among several other honors.
The St. Francis Hall of Fame will have 30 new members this year.
Renee (Fluegge) Voltin, a 1984 Coon Rapids High School graduate, will be inducted into the University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Hall of Fame.
