Andover swim coach Marcia Ford’s message to her young team after the Class AA state swimming and diving meet was simple.
“This is a learning process. This is just the beginning, every year we will do a little better,” she said after the team collected 22 points to place 21st among 34 teams at the final meet of the season.
Forest Lake edged Anoka by 23 points for the Section 7AA True Team title at Northdale Middle School Jan. 18, but Anoka qualified for the Class AA state True Team meet through a wild card process after the meet.
Blaine won its second consecutive Section 7AA swimming and diving team title in its home pool at Northdale Middle School Nov. 9.
Anoka hit the Aquatic Center pool at the University of Minnesota as part of the 1,100-swimmer strong Maroon and Gold Invite Sept. 7. The Tornadoes placed 11th in the maroon division with 108 point, three points behind Chaska, while Farmington won the team title with 315 points.
Anoka boys’ swimming tested the field at the Class AA State True Team meet to place ninth among 12 teams in the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center Jan. 26.
One of the boys’ swimming season’s top events of the calendar, the Maroon and Gold Invitational, brought together 57 teams across four divisions at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center Jan. 5.
Eden Prairie pushed past the reigning champions, Minnetonka, to win this year’s title at the State Class AA Boys’ Swimming and Diving meet on March 3 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
