Anoka cross country enjoyed the second of its three home meets with the Rum River Invite Sept. 12.
After dealing with the heat just before the season was set to begin, area cross country teams found plenty of early season competition.
Andover and St. Francis will be represented at the state track and field meet after successful performances at the Section 7AA meet hosted by the University of Minnesota, Duluth May 29-June 1.
Duluth East senior Anna Kubek won the 10-kilometer pursuit state Nordic ski title Feb. 14 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. Kubek finished more than 22 seconds ahead of Burnsville junior Vivian Hett and Mounds Park Academy senior Kristen Bourne.
Six individual nordic skiers will represent Section 5 at the state nordic meet on Valentine’s Day.
Andover girls’ placed second to a powerful Roseville squad by 28 points and Coon Rapids’ boys placed fourth among the field of 12 teams to take part in the 10 kilometer pursuit (5k classic and 5k freestyle) race at Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis Feb. 6.
The largest field of Nordic ski teams in the nation gathered at Giant’s Ridge in Biwabik, site of next month’s state meet, for the Mesabi East Invite Jan. 12.
Nordic ski teams returned to Northwest Suburban Conference action at Elm Creek Park Reserve Jan. 3.
