The Northwest Suburban Conference is now a two-division, 14-team conference.

Starting next August, all football teams will move to the district schedule format where all but Spring Lake Park will compete in the 16-team West Metro District.

With unanimous vote, the Minnesota State High School League will begin using districts for football in 2015.
At the MSHSL meeting in Brooklyn Center, the League Board of Directors voted in favor of the decision to realign regular season high school football around the state. This change will cut down on travel for schools and alleviate scheduling challenges for getting in eight games each fall.

This fall might the last go-around for football conferences in the current format. Not because the conference is going away, but because of a change in how the Minnesota State High School League will have its members schedule games.

Duluth East senior Anna Kubek won the 10-kilometer pursuit state Nordic ski title Feb. 14 at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. Kubek finished more than 22 seconds ahead of Burnsville junior Vivian Hett and Mounds Park Academy senior Kristen Bourne.
