Citizens interested in leading efforts to protect and manage natural resources are encouraged to run for supervisor of their local soil and water conservation district. Two Anoka Conservation District Supervisor’s positions will be on the November 2014 ballot. The filing period is open from May 20 through June 3, 2014. This position is a four-year term and usually requires one to three meetings monthly for which a stipend is provided.

UW-Stevens Point senior pitcher Travis Elwood (Anoka) was named WIAC Athlete of the Week for pitchers after a pair of appearances to help the Yellowjackets go 3-1 and 12-7 overall this spring. He pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit in an 8-6 loss to UW-Stout April 23. He followed that with an eight-inning performance Sunday in an 8-3 win over the Pointers. He gave up three runs on six hits. For the season he is 3-1 with a 2.32 earned run average with 33 strikeouts and eight walks in 31 innings of work
