University Avenue will be brighter once a road reconstruction project is completed next year.
A public hearing and open house has been scheduled by the Anoka County Highway Department at the Coon Rapids City Center Wednesday, Dec. 11, 4:30-6:30 p.m., on the planned upgrade of University Avenue in Blaine and Coon Rapids.
The Anoka County Highway Department will move forward with purchasing right of way it needs for a reconstructed University Avenue between 109th and 125th avenues now that the city councils of Blaine and Coon Rapids have signed off on the joint powers agreements (JPA).

Representatives from the Anoka County Highway Department were at a Blaine City Council workshop Jan. 10 to discuss the updated design of University Avenue between 109th Avenue/Northdale Boulevard and Main Street N.W./125th Avenue N.E.
Blaine and Coon Rapids residents along a 1.6-mile stretch of University Avenue that will be reconstructed in 2014 and 2015 found out where noise walls could be located, as long as they are not opposed to it.
