Winning a game at state was a reasonable goal for Blaine this year. The No. 2 seeded Bengals came into state riding a 20-match winning streak and pushed it to 21 games after a 3-0 win in the state quarterfinals over Bemidji.

Anoka’s (23-7, 9-1) nine year absence from the state volleyball tournament will come to an end after another close Section 7AAA final match against St. Francis (21-9, 8-2) Nov. 3.
Top seeded Blaine reached the Section 5AAA finals by sweeping No. 8 seed Mounds View 3-0 followed by a much closer 3-0 win over No. 4 Totino Grace (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) on Halloween. The win set up an Osseo/Blaine final Nov. 3 at Anoka High School. Click on image to view slideshow
