Youth First Community of Promise is undergoing a massive shift behind the scenes, all in its quest to provide better neighborhood centers in Andover, Anoka and Ramsey where teenagers go to meet new friends and get the help they need.

Youth First Community of Promise will hold its 12th annual Taste of Community event Thursday, Oct. 9. The fundraiser puts many local favorite restaurants under one roof, along with several new venues. It also includes a wine and beer tasting for one ticket price.
It was a night for proclamations and heartfelt thanks from elected officials, community organizations and even a proclamation from Gov. Mark Dayton June 5. People assembled at the Courtyards of Andover stood in line at the podium to give formal thanks to retiring Superintendent Dennis Carlson for making a difference in the lives of students and the communities served by the Anoka-Hennepin School District.
Chaos, conflict and confusion were constants in James Stuart’s childhood days. His mother married and divorced several times and the family was always on the move – “running from police, I’m guessing,” Stuart said.
Kids cast and reeled, baited and hooked during the fifth-annual Anoka Lions and Youth First fishing trip on the Mississippi River Aug. 8.
