In response to your guest editorial in last week’s paper, it is time to educate the writer and other liberals. My mistake, I thought the facts were obvious.
Edin, clearly doesnt understand what Socialism is or whether or not it's been successful. Where does he think the government gets the money to pay for the department of defence? Tax payers. The people own the DOD by its representatives. Edin should stick to what he knows ,whatever that is. It's certainly not economics.
While the author defined "socialism" in a textbook fashion, that textbook definition doesn't match how Republicans and news media apply the term! They accuse Bernie Sanders of being a "socialist" even though the textbook definition spelled out by this contributor doesn't match Sanders plans!
I very deliberately took the Republican's definition in writing my editorial to illustrate THAT THE MAJORITY OF ITEMS REPUBLICAN CALL SOCIALIST are actually commonplace in American society.
And regardless of the age of the programs FARM subsidies DO NOT EXIST IN CAPITALISM. BAILOUTS DO NOT EXIST IN CAPITALISM. JUST BECAUSE AMERICAN HAS TRADITIONALLY INCLUDED SUCH THINGS DOESN'T MAKE THEM A PART OF A CAPITALIST SYSTEM!
AMERICA HAS NEVER USED EXCLUSIVELY USED CAPITALISM, NEVER.
I'm not the one who has deemed Social Security & Medicare entitlements THE REPUBLICAN PARTY DOES! In fact, when the majority of voters vote against "entitlements", a survey that was done afterward illustrated that voters had NO IDEA they were VOTING AGAINST PROGRAMS THEY USE. Because like this guest editor, they have no idea such programs are being included.
I totally agree! The programs are paid into by taxpayer therefore they are entitled to the benefits. If you don't like social security and medicare being lumped in as an "entitlement" complain to your Republican legislators.
